Spreading the Cookie Love

Hi Everyone! You know how people get on the news because they made a grilled cheese sandwich and Jesus or Mother Theresa appears on it? Well, since it's February and Valentine's Day and all that mushy stuff, do you think that I could get on the news with my heart shaped cookie? No? I think it's a pretty cool fluke that I would find a heart shaped cookie in my 100 calorie pack during the month of love. Is it a sign? Am I going to fall deeply and madly in love with someone today? Tomorrow?

Here's my 100-Calorie pack of cookies. I opened it up and grabbed a cookie. Not looking for anything special...just a little dry chocolate chip cookie.

Here's the first cookie I pulled out of the little bag. It's a heart! Isn't it cute?!

By the way, no I do not believe or even hope that I'm going to fall deeply and madly in love any time soon.

I just thought it was one cool cookie! Spread the cookie love people. Spread the cookie love.

Woo Hoo! Snow Play!

Yeah! We got to go play in the snow today! It was only for about 15 minutes, but it was fun! There's supposed to be a major storm coming in this afternoon. Quentin's got two flashlights ready just in case the power goes out.

Here are my favorite photos from the snow.

The first is a picture of an area called Little Sweden. It's just up Hwy. 108.

The second, is the view behind Little Sweden. Isn't it beautiful?!

The third, is icicles hanging from a pine tree.

And the last photo is my favorite. Quentin and I were going to pose to have our picture taken and of course, I fell into one of those invisible snow holes. You know the kind where you're walking along in the snow just fine and then all of the sudden you're sunk in the snow all the way up to your hip?! Yep, you know the kind. I hate that!

Take care everyone and stay warm this winter!

Anyone Read a Good Book Lately?

Quentin is required to read at least 15 minutes every night for school. Trying to find books that capture and hold his attention is a challenge sometimes. He likes the "Stink" series. Stink is Judy Moody's little brother. He also likes the series written by Henry Winkler. Yes, The Fonz writes children's books. And, yes, they're good.

This past weekend we went and saw the movie The Spiderwick Chronicles. He enjoyed the movie even though it was a little scarier than I expected. Monday, we went to Modesto and of course we HAD to stop at the Barnes and Noble. Quentin immediately spotted the Spiderwick Chronicles books. We looked at all of the different types of books on the series and we decided that we would purchase the first book in the series. It is a hardback chapter book. He is really doing a good job reading it! He's been reading it all week....or has he been sleeping through it all week?

I snapped these pictures of him last night after I went out to see why he wasn't answering me when I told him that his 15 minutes was up. Why wasn't he answering? He was SLEEPING!

By the way, I know he didn't sleep through his whole 15 minutes because 13 minutes into it he asked how much time he had left.
Here's a funny quote from my little man. While watching Survivor tonight he saw that a major storm was about to hit the islands that the Survivors are trying to survive on and he said, "Oh, they better get back to their crib as soon as possible."

Thank the Lord for 3-Day Weekends!

I am back from my third trip to Disneyland in the last six months. It was completely exhausting this time! I'm so thankful to be home and to have a three day weekend! Yesterday I did a movie marathon. I watched Becoming Jane, No Reservations, Selena, Two Weeks Notice and something else that I don't remember at the moment. I also did a little house cleaning and Quentin's friend Hannah came over for a sleepover.

A bunch of us from work went to Anaheim for the PARMA conference. What is PARMA? It is the Public Agency Risk Management Association. What did I learn? I learned that I want to live in a plastic bubble because of all of the germs out there! JEEZ! Do we really have to import diseases? Don't we have enough of our own?!

Thursday was Valentine's Day. I hope everyone had a lovely day! Quentin gave me my Valentine on Wednesday night when I got home from my trip. He drew me a huge card and made me a woven heart full of candy! I loved it! I missed him so much!

Here are some pictures from the trip...

The first picture is very blurry...sorry about that, but I love it! It's a picture of the picture that was taken on the Tower of Terror ride at CA Adventure. Now, I'm smiling because I've been on the ride before and know what to expect. But, look at Barbi's expression! She's a little nervous.

Here's my friend Gregory and I. We're waiting in line at Pirates of the Caribbean. (He doesn't like to have his picture taken.) :0)

Okay, I've got to go shower now. I think I'm going to go to Modesto...you know there are sales going on this weekend!

What Makes my Little Boy Tick...

At this point in time it's electronics. He is totally in to all of the little gadgets he can get his hands on. Here's what he's got so far: Zune, PS2, GameBoy Advance, Wii, another little MP3 player, Polaroid LCD TV, RoboQuad, Portable DVD player, RoboSapien, and the latest addition to his collection is a new limited edition Daxter PSP.

The PSP was purchased last night. It was quite the ordeal. It all started in September. His father wanted to get him a PSP (Portable Sony Playstation). I didn't think it was a good idea since he already had a GameBoy, PS2 and was getting a Wii. So, we all agreed that four video game systems were not necessary and Rob ended up getting him the LCD TV instead. Fast forward to Christmas. Quentin received some cash as Christmas gifts and he decided that he was going to save it up until he had enough to buy either a Nintendo DS or a PSP. He couldn't decide which one he wanted. I told him that even though I still thought he didn't need four systems it was his money and if he saved enough he could buy it.
This past Wednesday he had to go to the doctor for the third time to get some warts removed. The doctor has been freezing them and trust me, it hurts like a son of a B$>@!. He's been such a brave boy by letting them do this to him. This last treatment was extremely painful for him though, because they used a scalpel to cut off the top of the warts because that part of it was dead skin. In doing this it exposed very sensititve new skin. After using the scalpel, the doctor proceeded to do the freezing. Quentin calls it the frostbite stuff. The poor little guy was in so much pain I could hardly stand it! I can't imagine how much it truly hurt him. The doctor was afraid he was going to pass out because his breathing was so labored. Anyway, we made it through the appointment and then had to run to GameStop to buy a birthday present for one of his friends.

While we were there I saw boxes for used PSPs. I decided to pay the difference in cost from the money he had saved and what the used system cost and let him get one. He was so excited he kept giving me hugs and saying he couldn't believe the day had finally come when he would get a PSP. It was very sweet. I let him pick a used game and we went to the counter to pay for the used game and the birthday present game and asked for a used PSP. At this point the clerk tells us that they don't have ANY used PSPs. Quentin was more than a little heartbroken. The boy was down right devestated. He'd just had trauma at the doctor's office and now THIS! The clerk was very nice and called another store and asked if they would ship a used PSP to the Sonora store. They had some and said they would. It would arrive Friday or Saturday. This picked up Quentin's spirits a little bit. He was still a little leary of the whole situation.

Yesterday morning Aubrey called and asked how the doctor's appointment had gone. I told her everything that happened and she decided that a used system was not okay. The boy needs a new one she said. So, being the most awesome Auntie Aub that she is, she said she was putting money in my account and to go and buy Quentin a new PSP!

Sorry for the novel! Here are pictures of Quentin and his new PSP.

The first one is his reaction to me telling him we're getting a PSP.

The second one is his reaction to me telling him that Auntie Aub is paying the difference. Notice the wide eyes.

The third one is his true reaction when it all finally sank in. He didn't know whether to laugh or cry! I absolutely love the pure joy of this photo.

The fourth is him at the store with his new system in hand. I call it "I Got the Motts"! Aub knows why... :-)

The fifth is a picture of him at 6:30 this morning playing his new system, because it had to charge overnight and he didn't get to play it last night.
